Hi I'm Sofia, the OG Apex Pedestrian.
A friend joked that I take one of the least serious sports more seriously than anyone we know. “Apex Pedestrian” became an inside pun…and eventually my outside brand.
I've always been a walker, but in 2020, when everything shut down, I started setting distance challenges: 10 miles, 15, then 20. At first, it was about the physical challenge. Then I started to realize that my walks were teaching me more about my city in months than having lived there for years.
I could explain each neighborhood's character. I recognized which storefronts were new. I built a solid list of cafes and bakeries where I'd stop to refuel.
And just like that, walking turned into a hobby. But no one I knew walked for…fun?
I turned to the internet and started posting my walk recaps. Lo and behold, other avid walkers started asking for routes and group walks.
Even though walking is something everybody does to some extent, there aren't a whole lot of resources on where to walk that's more than the shortest route between point A and point B.
Apex Pedestrian exists to change that.
If you want to walk more, know your city better, and feel connected while doing it, you're in the right place.
